When mentioning gudeg, there’s no other place worth visited in jogja other than the well known Wijilan Street, located in the east of the Kraton North Square Yogyakarta. This area is where gudeg was first known and marketed as the typical cuisine of Jogja. The first person to pioneer the selling of gudeg in the area is Mrs. Slamet, in 1942. The street is now filled with at least 10 gudeg food stands. The most famous gudeg food stand known today is Gudeg Yu Djum.
