Wayang Orang is a traditional drama performance that tells different episodes of the Mahabarata and Ramayana epic. The daily shows survived until today, though local people are not as interested as they are decades ago, in fact the traditional heritage is on the verge of extinction if not preserved well. You can enjoy this magnificent show every night at Gedung Wayang Orang Sriwedari, from 8 PM onwards.
The shows are supported by dedicated casts who always prepare and perform at their best. There will be one different title for every show, taken from parts of the Mahabarata and Ramayana epic. The score is provided by a gamelan live performance, played by a number of musicians playing traditional Javanese instruments. This would be one unforgettable night performance you can enjoy for its priceless cultural artistic value.
