Rumah Mertua is actually meaning “the house of parent in law” in Indonesian. I’m not too certain why they named it like that. Rumah Mertua Hotel is a small boutique hotel with 11 comfortable bedroms and a traditional restaurant with romantic garden environment. The hotel is a combination of a luxurious design and traditional Javanese environment.

The hotel is located behind the superior Hyatt Regency Hotel. It is only a 15 minute drive away from the center of the city. What’s interesting about the hotel is that it is perfectly settled in a village, and about 8 minutes walking to the main road. For a second it may not look like a hotel, more like a treasured sanctuary in the bustling town of Jogja. The distant location makes the environment rather serene and quite. Even when fully booked, guests will find the atmosphere very quite and relaxing.

The staff is just wonderful, always showing a naturally honest smile. They are always ready to make their guests’ stay more comfortable. Their cleaning is also nice. Guest just feel as if they were at their own house because of the cleaness.

The food served at the restaurant is filled with delicious local cuisine. Guests are also offered for sightseeing, but they have to rent a car first. All and all, this hotel serves as a “home-like” hotel, very suitable for guests seeking a quite and calm environment to spend their leisure time.
