If you’re interested in nature tourism site, where you can interact directly with nature, then Kaliurang is the best destination to be visited. Kaliurang is a mounty resort area located about 25 km north of Yogyakarta. The area is famous for its beautiful mountain scenary, forested park and trailed hiking sites and is often visited by local residents for refreshing purpose or outbounding purpose. Usually, students from most universities in Yogyakarta search an area in this resort to spend a few nights for inauguration purpose. Here, you can find remains of Japanese Caves built during the colonialization era in Indonesia.
Kaliurang is now used as a base for vulcanologists to monitor the behavior of Mount Merapi, especially when the slopes of the volcano become active.
